Question from the forum “Behind the wheel” – we answer them from time to time:

– Which spare wheel should you take with you if the standard tires have a one-way profile?

– If you buy a new set yourself, then for the spare it is better to orient on the right side: The closer to the curb, the greater the chance of a flat tire.

Manufacturers, on the other hand, try not to use directional tires in the original equipment of cars at all – why do they need unnecessary difficulties in mounting? And if they do use it, they use a dokatka or a full-size wheel for temporary use as a spare wheel.

Tires with a directional tread pattern require you to follow the rules in the direction of rotation. You can identify them by marking Rotation (“direction”) and a directional arrow on the side face. An error during installation will result in an increased noise level while driving.
