The path through which JAC Sunray’s Chinese small tonnage will enter the Russian market has been determined.
Remember there were three options. The model could appear under the MAZ brand (it is already produced in Belarus), as a Kazakh JAC (after the passenger models of the brand) or a Russian assembly.
In the latter case, the most likely location was the Sollers plant in Yelabuga. After stopping the assembly of the only Ford Transit model, he was out of a job and there is practically no hope of resuming production.
The Sollers company announced that it will produce a commercial model under a new, already proprietary brand. She will be the Chinese JAC Sunray.
So far this has not been officially confirmed, but it is very likely: as potential partners we have mainly Chinese left and besides the JAC brand no one is coming on the market with an all-metal van lately.
If the project goes ahead, Sunray can be seen at work in an ambulance and a fixed-route taxi.
The potential of the model is huge, as the departed Ford Transit firmly took second place in the segment after the domestic GAZelle.
