How are camera locations chosen?
Private companies are engaged in the installation and maintenance of mobile complexes. But their locations need to be coordinated with the traffic police. Usually these are dangerous road sections where accidents occur most often.
Another important point is that the chosen place for installing a mobile camera should not be controlled by a stationary photo and video shooting complex. Otherwise, the driver will receive two fines for one violation.
Are there other installation criteria?
The rules for installing the complex are written in the documentation for a specific model. Tilt angles, height, distance from the roadway – everything is taken care of. Failure to comply with these parameters can lead to detection errors. However, this becomes immediately noticeable if one camera catches more offenders than the rest. So if you are sure that you have not broken the traffic rules and the fine was wrongly handed out, file a complaint.
Are you required to warn of an ambush?
Warning sign 6.22 “Photo video recording” is set according to the following criteria. In populated areas – only at the entrance, report that there may be cameras within the boundaries. That’s why they are now hanging in front of every village and at the entrances of more than a million cities. As you understand, there are few “advantages” of such installation of signs.
On the tracks, traffic controllers are obliged to warn only for stationary cameras (at a distance of 150-300 m from the control zone). Placing signs for mobile complexes is at the discretion of the region. In the Moscow region, for example, each is marked (also with bright cones around an already striking car with a camera on the roof), and none in the Ryazan region. Yes, and cars with cameras are placed away from the road.
Mobile cameras near Moscow are best seen. They are installed on Grants and Transits, which are difficult to hide in the bushes. In addition, there are almost always warning signs at its entrance and cones by the cars as well.
Where can I download a map with the location of the cameras?
For several years now, the coordinates of all complexes are not classified information. The website of the traffic police has a special section where on the map you can see all the cameras, stationary and mobile, as well as the violations they record.
The most complete databases of road warning cameras contain a variety of mobile applications. One of the most common is Strelka anti-radar. These are cheap, a few hundred rubles. There are also free “tips” – in online navigators (for example, from Yandex).
The most expensive way to track cameras are DVRs and radar detectors with updated bases. For such devices, lay out at least 4-6 thousand rubles.
Which violations are registered?
Cameras have become smart, so today their capabilities do not depend on whether it is a stationary or mobile complex. The only question is what should be recorded in a certain area and how the camera is certified. But most mobile complexes are, of course, aimed at speeding violations.
Where to complain if something happens?
With the exception of metropolitan parking fines, the rest goes through the traffic police. Complaints about unjust penalties should be submitted here.
But if you think that the camera itself is installed with violations (hidden or distorted the data), then it is more complicated. Each region has its own operator of photo and video shooting complexes and has its own controlling state structure.
