The share of Chinese car brands in the Russian market has increased by almost 30%. This is evidenced by the data on new passenger car sales in Russia for the past week (the 39th week of 2022), from September 26 to October 2 – they are quoted by the analytical agency Avtostat with reference to PPK JSC. During this period, Russians bought 2,562 cars from dealers of brands from China.
Top 3 brands from September 26 to October 2
- Lada – 3298 pcs.
- Chery – 1091 pcs.
- Haval – 658 pcs.
For example, companies from the Middle Kingdom were able to strengthen their positions so strongly that they accounted for a total of 29.4% of the total volume of new cars sold last week. This is the maximum market share Chinese brands have ever had in Russia.
Better than the “Chinese” sold only “Russians” – domestic brands in the same week took 39.8%. But Korean companies, which are going through a period of great uncertainty in Russia, are more than twice behind Chinese manufacturers: their share was 12.8%.
- Here’s another statistic: Russians are increasingly switching from European and Japanese cars to new Chinese cars, switching cars through trade-ins.
