From September 26 to October 2 (39th week of 2022), Russians bought 8,711 new cars. Recall that the last, the 38th week, analysts recorded the continued growth of the auto market. But even then, it could be assumed that the changed situation in the country would affect car sales. According to Avtostat, 8,711 new cars are 19% less than a week earlier.
Passenger cars account for about 80% of all new vehicles sold in the country. The situation is about the same for the remaining 20%. In particular, the light commercial vehicle (LCV) market declined by 20% to 982 units.
The drop in the truck segment is even deeper: 1321 vehicles and minus 22% compared to last week. And the most modest segment, the buses, sank the most during the week: by 33% to 88 units. If you take the entire primary auto market, a total of 11,102 units were purchased and the decline for the week was 20%.
- On an annual basis, car production is also reduced – by more than 60% compared to 2021.
