Yesterday 103 citizens of the Russian Federation were refused entry to Finland, but five of them did not want to give up and left applications for asylum to the border guards.
This was announced on October 3 on his page on the social network Twitter (blocked in Russia at the request of the prosecutor general’s office of February 24, 2022. – Remark. red.) according to the Finnish Border Guard. According to the organization, on October 2, a total of 1,043 citizens of the Russian Federation crossed the Russian-Finnish border through checkpoints in the southeast of the country.
“Yesterday 1984 Russians returned home through border checkpoints in southeastern Finland. Five Russians have applied for asylum and another 75 Ukrainians applied for temporary international protection,”- wrote on their Twitter page (blocked in Russia at the request of the prosecutor general’s office) representatives of the Finnish Border Guard.
On September 27, a mobile military recruitment office was opened from the Russian side near the Torfyanovka checkpoint. They handed out subpoenas and offered to volunteer. And from September 30, Finland stopped admitting Russians with Schengen visas. An exception was made for those who have relatives or possessions there.
By some estimates, traffic at the Russian-Finnish border has fallen 8 times in the past week.
Departures from Finland for citizens of Russia are not restricted. For example, yesterday, on October 2, 1043 citizens of the Russian Federation left for Finland, and 1984 the Russians returned. This includes tourists, who bring up to 25% of income to the budgets of the southern regions of Finland.
It also became known that the Finnish government is considering the possibility of building a fence along the border with Russia.
