In Moscow, at VDNKh, the Russian brand Aurus presented the third model in line: after the Senat Limousine and the more compact Senat sedan, the Komendant crossover (industry index – 4125) is finally shown, named after the Commander’s Tower of the Kremlin and share the EMP platform with the first models. We add that the brand also has a small-scale Arsenal minivan, but the model has not yet been presented on the official website.
Aurus Coming to the presentation. Moscow, VDNH, September 29
Komendant is more compact than all the models mentioned: with a length of 5380 mm, it is 252 mm shorter than the sedan and in terms of wheelbase (3100 mm) exactly 200 mm narrower. But in height – plus 131 mm. In terms of dimensions, the Commander is close to the Cadillac Escalade and Rolls-Royce Cullinan.
The appearance of the Russian crossover, of course, crosses with other Aurus models, but the headlights, hood and other elements of the Commander’s front have their own. But in the cabin, trimmed with leather and veneer, there is quite a wide unit with the sedan: the same instruments, the same steering wheel, the automatic transmission selector switch, buttons and handles.
There will be two versions of the cabin: a regular five-seater and a four-seater with separate rear seats with electric drive and extendable tables. But folding the rear row seatbacks doesn’t work in any of the interior options.
The hybrid power plant is also united with other Aurus. A 4.4-litre petrol engine with bi-turbo V8 produces 598 hp. and 880 Nm (petrol – AI-98), and another 38 hp. (at its peak – 63 hp) adds a synchronous electric motor integrated into a 9-speed automatic transmission. The sedan is four-wheel drive, the front axle is connected by an electromagnetic clutch.
The 16 Ah battery is located above the rear axle, while in the sedan it is hidden in the rear overhang. Another difference is that the crossover suspension is pneumatic, not spring. Ground clearance in the standard position is 230 mm, but varies from 215 to 260 mm. Gross weight according to OTTS – 3495 kg, equipped – 3235 kg. Payload – 260 kg.
The start of production of Komendant crossovers in Yelabuga, where Senat sedans are already being assembled, is planned for early 2023. The lower price bar for the crossover has been announced: from 33.7 million rubles. Sedans, by the way, are slightly more expensive – from 36.6 million rubles.
- Shortly before the presentation, a photo of part of Aurus Komendant’s “naked” body hit the web.
- “Behind the wheel” can be read in Odnoklassniki.
