Electronic rights – from October 1st! Will there be difficulties?

From 1 October, motorists can submit an electronic copy of their driver’s license to traffic cops. To do this, download the application “Gosuslugi.Avto” and upload your rights there. The inspector’s tablet software can recognize the ID from the QR code and check whether the document is authentic and up-to-date.

Some experts point to a disadvantage: there is not a stable internet signal everywhere on the track, writes Izvestia. However, a message published on the official website of the Ministry of Digital Development rejects this presumption:

“The State Services.Auto application also works offline. The electronic driver’s license stored in the application can be presented without an internet connection,” the ministry said in a statement.

At the National Traffic Inspectorate, they in turn notice that inspectors do not need internet access to check your electronic rights.

“Even if there is no network connection, the police officer has the opportunity to see the recognized evidence on the tablet screen and determine the relevance of the information,” the traffic police said.

The State Traffic Inspectorate also recalls that, as with the presentation of an electronic STS, which became possible in September 2021, we are still talking about an experiment.

A digital driver’s license is just a copy of the original driver’s license and is not a full replacement for it at this time. The traffic regulations require the driver to carry a driving license (not a copy!).

  • For a complete replacement by the electronic format of the certificate, the traffic rules will have to be adapted accordingly.
  • “Behind the wheel” can be read in Odnoklassniki.
