A new Chinese car brand Skywell (Skywell) enters Russia, although the brand’s Russian press release elegantly sidesteps the question of belonging to the heavenly realm. Be that as it may, the brand is remarkable: the first BEO (ET5) model was shown in 2020 and now Skywell crossovers are sold in 42 countries, including Canada, USA, Korea, Croatia, Germany, Spain and Israel.
The ET5 electric crossover (pictured) will also be offered in Russia and the indicated expansion rates are impressive: representatives of the brand report that the model will be presented in the showrooms of official dealers in a month’s time. And for the first year it is planned to sign an agreement with 30 dealers, including in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan, Krasnodar and other metropolitan cities. A Russian representative office has already opened in the capital, the official website is working.
“Thanks to the federal project “Electric car and hydrogen car”, some of these cities will receive “fast” charging stations for electric cars at the expense of the federal budget. In its first year of operation, we plan to sell more than 3,000 flagship ET5 and new HT-i hybrid crossovers, which will be available in 2023. Also, Skywell cars can be bought online with delivery all over Russia,” said Alexander Ivanov, head of Skywell in the Russian Federation.
The flagship crossover Skywell ET5 has a 204 hp electric motor, a battery with an eight-year warranty and a power reserve of more than 500 km (!), as well as an intentionally stretched (up to 2800 mm) wheelbase, which is conceptually similar to the Russian E- Neva.
Indicated: panoramic roof, adaptive light, autopilot level L2.5, marked “fully folding seats for a sound sleep”, “camping” mode with the usual “home” electricity of 220 volts. By means of fast charging, the car is charged to 80% in 30 minutes. There will be two trim levels, and prices have already been announced: 4,480,000 and 4,980,000 rubles.
