The steering wheel is finally two-way adjustable, and the driver of any (well, almost!) physique will sit comfortably. Only the front seats remained of Chinese size – with a short cushion and a rather low backrest.

The new front panel, however, distracts from this: excellent quality, with a digital “neat” and a 10-inch central screen. The climate sensor unit and a good non-fixed gear lever are borrowed from the larger Tiggo.

Unfortunately, there was no room in the back row – a tall passenger behind a tall driver barely squeezes.

But so far nothing has been done with the insufficient space to clean the windshield – the left brush in the upper part of the glass does not reach the 10 centimeter stretch. And the racks themselves are thick.

Everyone is a variator

The engine range has lost a two-litre intake. Now – only “one and a half”. The atmospheric unit 1.5 with a power of 113 hp remained the basis. – with mechanics or a variator. It also has a turbo version (147 hp). The drive for all adjustments is at the forefront.

But if earlier on the top version there was a jerky six-speed robot, now it’s a CVT too. It’s Chery’s own design, with a Bosch steel strap. The maximum speed has not changed and the acceleration time to hundreds has decreased by only 0.1 s.

But it became more pleasant to manage the traction. And while it couldn’t have been done without the variable speed “stretching” it was harder to endure the robot’s tantrums.

Saved again

Prices for the Tiggo 4 Pro have not yet been announced. But if we focus on the pre-styling version, we expect that they will be in the range of 1.7-2.4 million rubles. It looks scary, but this is a normal level for this segment. Another thing is that for such money, all the signs of savings are perceived more painfully.

The fit of the body panels is not perfect in some places. The top versions lost the independent rear suspension in favor of a torsion axle. There isn’t much difference in ride and handling, though – Tiggo rides hard and reacts with a slight laziness on the steering wheel. Chinese Chaoyang tires are quite noisy. There is no lighting in the cabin: there are no shades above the rear seats and near the vanity mirrors in the visors.

Should I take it?

Chery Tiggo 4 Pro has become more beautiful and fashionable, and this is the most important. We welcome the departure of the robot, although the variator is not a gift. But everything is determined by the final prices. And most importantly – how Chery dealers will resist them.
