Winter diesel fuel could become a shortage this winter. The problem is an annual one, but this year it could get worse, Evgeny Arkusha, president of the Russian Fuel Union (RTS) said on Sputnik radio. He talked about what diesel car owners can face, as well as why diesel is so expensive now.
In the past, the so-called middle distillates or diesel fuel substitutes helped, but now they are practically absent from the domestic market, they are all exported. The winter diesel itself is also exported in fairly large quantities. As a result, our wholesale and retail prices for diesel fuel are significantly higher than for gasoline, which is generally not normal,” said Arkusha.
The solution to the problem could be the supply of winter diesel fuel from the Republic of Belarus, and this option is already being discussed, said the chairman of the RTS. There are no price predictions for Belarusian winter diesel yet, so we have to wait and see. Arkusha also stressed that no shortages are expected for other types of fuel – summer diesel and gasoline.
