The artistic director of the F. Volkov Theater in Yaroslavl, a famous Russian actor, director and screenwriter Sergei Puskepalis died today in a car accident.

According to official data from the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the region, on September 20 at about 11:00 Moscow time in the Rostov region, on the 201st kilometer of the M8 Kholmogory highway, an accident – a collision between a Ford Transit and a truck.
As a result of an accident, two people died – the driver of Ford and Sergey Puskepalis, the truck driver was hospitalized. Traffic police, a search operations group and the Ministry of Emergency Situations are working on the spot. The circumstances of what happened are established.

Sergei Vytauto Puskepalis was 56 years old. His father is Lithuanian, his mother Bulgarian. He studied at the Saratov Theater School, completed military service in the navy, worked as an actor in the Saratov Youth Theater, studied with Pyotr Fomenko at the Russian Academy of Theater Arts, graduated in 2001.
He has been acting in films since 2003. The first role was episodic – in the feature film directed by Alexei Uchitel “Walk” (2003). He has starred in the TV series Idealist, Owl Cry, Apothecary, the disaster movie Metro, as well as in over 50 movies and TV shows. He was the director of the play “The Russian War of Pectoralis”, based on the play by Oleg Grisevich at the Oleg Tabakov Theater in Moscow. Since 2019, he has been directing the Yaroslavl Drama Theater named after F. Volkov. The artist is survived by his wife and son.

Since 2015, he attended the DPR, was friends with the head of the republic, Alexander Zakharchenko. According to the writer Zakhar Prilepin, Sergei Puskepalis has provided financial support to the DPR.
In 2022, he supported Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine.
