Following on from the electric Largus, which will be launched in production at a plant in Izhevsk, all-electric versions of Lada Vesta and Lada Granta may be available for sale.
“We are going to focus on the market. First, we will test the demand on the example of the electric Largus, and then – certainly not tomorrow and not in the medium term – we will start from the trends that will generally be on the market”, Maxim Sokolov, head of AvtoVAZ, told RIA Novosti.
Recall that the first experimental electric vehicles based on Lada Largus should appear in 2023.
“The first prototypes will appear at the end of this year. Perhaps around the turn of the century of 2022 and 2023. The first experimental batch will therefore be released next year. When we talk about serial production, its volume depends on the needs of the market,” explains Mr. Sokolov. — But unlike all the other projects announced recently, AvtoVAZ’s electric Lagrus will be the only highly localized domestic electric vehicle. This will be his competitive advantage. It is now impossible to provide full localization, and probably not necessary. But we are continuing our policy of locating critical components needed to ensure technological sovereignty.”
