A tense situation arises with the assembly of Lada Niva Legend SUVs on the AvtoVAZ conveyor belt in Togliatti. In September, reports appeared from unofficial sources on social networks about the accumulation of incomplete cars in the internal territories of the factory. The reason for this is the lack of seat belts to equip assembled cars.
Initially, according to independent sources, it was about hundreds of SUVs that were driven into the territory of the old test track. Now, Avtograd News writes, the capabilities of this site have been exhausted, so the territory of the disused Lada West Togliatti plant (formerly GM-AVTOVAZ) has been used – the source publishes a photo from the parking lot with Niva. Apparently, the cost of incomplete SUVs can run into the thousands.
Recall that in July 2022 AvtoVAZ resumed the assembly of Niva Legend off-road vehicles in the Classic’22 anti-crisis configuration, and even then seat belts were one of the serious problems: the previous supplier left and the stocks were only enough for the first time . According to some reports, negotiations were underway with a Chinese company, but in the end the assembly was launched with new belts of Russian origin.
- Next year, AVTOVAZ plans to restore almost the entire Lada lineup (there will be no XRAY, Vesta will be updated) and produce more cars than before the crisis.
