At the same time, the car easily accelerates to a speed of 230 km / h, which it cannot do when driving on wheels.
Researchers from Southwestern Jiaotong University constructed a contact rail along a 7.9 km stretch of road and fitted eight cars with magnetic pads.
Car wheels hang in the air at a height of only 35 millimeters from the road. This is enough to consider the car flying.
The essence of a floating car is simple: the system uses magnets whose fields repel each other. By manipulating magnetic fields, one can soar over a steel road and accelerate to incredible speeds due to the absence of friction.
“Our next step will be to develop a real vehicle, the first maglev vehicle,” said Dr. Zigang Deng, head of the university’s maglev research group.
