Motor and electronics are ours
At the end of 2022, the production of electric UAZ vehicles will start on the territory of the Technopolis in Moscow (the former territory of AZLK). The aim is to produce up to 1000 cars per year.
From Ulyanovsk comes a bare chassis without engine and attachments. The electrical part is mounted on it. All components are household, only battery cells are shipped from China.
Each cell has a storage capacity of approximately 750 W.h electricity. Total battery capacity – 90 kW.h This should be enough for 300 km. The electric motor was designed and assembled in Russia. Synchronous electric motor delivers torque of up to 300 N.m.
From the outside, it’s hard to spot an electrical fill hidden under the Pro’s body.
They placed it on a subframe, which is installed on regular engine mounts. There are also electronic units: voltage conversion, switching and motor control. The electric motor is coupled to a regular Chinese gearbox, locked in second gear. So the source will be the greatest.
An electric motor is installed under the hood and electronic components above it.
And yet, in this mode, the box will not last more than 100 thousand km. Now they are working on installing the engine in a single unit with the rear gearbox. Then it is possible to remove the gearbox and cardan. This will not only increase the resource, but also reduce the weight of the car.
There are two types of connectors for charging – CHAdeMO and GB/T.
The battery is located on the frame between the spars. The loading height has not changed compared to the petrol car.
He is on his way!
Inside, the differences from the usual UAZ are immediately noticeable. Instead of a gear lever on the central tunnel – a console with buttons for driving modes.
The dashboard is original, virtual. In addition to information, it also has a telematics function.
It transmits all the information about the car’s driving modes, received from the GPS sensors and the accelerometer.
With its help, you can also control the car remotely – lock the doors, limit the speed in certain areas, and so on.
Such a control function will certainly be interesting for companies with their own fleet.
The UAZ drives unusually quietly, except for the hum of the electric motor. Compared to most electric passenger cars, it accelerates reluctantly. But against the background of an ordinary UAZ with a gasoline engine, it is just a hurricane. And for a company car, such dynamics are quite acceptable.
The silence is only broken by the rumble of the undercarriage. But all UAZs differ in this. And in a quiet electric car, these brand sounds can be heard much more clearly.
Inside, everything is the same as in the usual Pro. Except that instead of the gear lever, a podium with buttons for driving modes is installed.
The electrical component affected the curb weight – an electric car is half a ton heavier than a conventional UAZ. Therefore, the total carrying capacity of the “one and a half” is only a ton. But such electric trucks should be used in the city, so this will be enough.
Price and edition
The electric UAZ-Profi costs 4.5 million rubles. A 40 kW charger is supplied with the car, which recharges the batteries in approximately two hours. For UAZ, the price tag is high, but for an electric car it is acceptable. And there are already real orders.
The original virtual dashboard has been recreated from scratch.
For the entire UAZ part, the warranty is standard – 2 years or 150 thousand km. On the electric filling – five years. The service interval is 30,000 km. Routine maintenance includes only replacing coolant from the battery cooling circuits. Some dealers are retrained and given the necessary equipment to service electric vehicles. There are ten such points.
In the near future, the company plans to create its own modular electric platform, so as not to depend on chassis supplies. And increasing production volumes to 5,000 electric vehicles per year.
UAZ Profi-EVM Pro is made by Electric Vehicles Manufacturing Rus. And this is not a driving layout, but almost a series car.
