On September 8, through work traffic started on the third start-up complex of the Yekaterinburg Ring Road, the Ekaterinburg Ring Road. Traffic was opened on a stretch of 11.4 kilometers from the residential area of Solnechny on the Polevskiy Trakt to the Chelyabinsk Trakt.
In the next road construction season, specialists must complete the reconstruction of technical networks and registration of plots, and the commissioning is scheduled for November 2023.
The solemn event was attended by the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Ural Federal District Vladimir Yakushev and the Governor of the Region Evgeny Kuyvashev
“We have been working around the clock for the past month and a half. We will complete the remaining exits from ECAD within the next year. Most importantly, we’ve started the movement around the ring. And we will not rest on our laurels: the expansion of the northern half-ring of the EKAD will start soon,” said the governor of the Sverdlovsk region.
Multi-level exchange at the location of the object, as it looked last July
The head of the Sverdlovsk region noted that the start of traffic on the third part of the EKAD actually closed the transport ring around Yekaterinburg – two years earlier than originally planned. Recall that the construction of the third start-up complex of the EKAD, which started in 2019, is being carried out within the framework of the national project “Safe High-Quality Roads”.
Now there is a continuous transport ring around Yekaterinburg
EKAD is considered an important infrastructure project of the Sverdlovsk region, as it will unite the Perm Canal, the M-5 Ural Highway, the Yekaterinburg-Shadrinsk-Kurgan road and the Tyumen Canal with a transport frame. And in addition, it will unload the street and road network of the capital of the Urals, bringing transit traffic beyond its borders. To date, parts of the EKAD with a total length of approximately 80 km have been built and put into operation.
The national project “High Quality Safe Roads” is one of 14 national projects being implemented in Russia. One of the goals of the national project Safe High-Quality Roads is to increase the share of the road network of urban agglomerations in good condition to 85%.
- More than 48,000 km of roads have been repaired, reconstructed and constructed since the project started.
- “Driving” can now be viewed on RuTube.
Construction was supposed to be finished in 2024, but now the commissioning has been postponed to November 2023.
