Wheel Bearing Replacement Kit

In the hubs of modern cars, double row ball bearings are usually used. They are fitted with a clamp fit on both the hub and the knuckle. It is unacceptable to mount them with a percussion tool. In the workshops, a press is used, and amateurs usually use a set of washers and bushings, pulled together by a bolt with a powerful thread. Sometimes a similar set can be used for self-suppressing silent blocks.

Plate stylus set

In old engines, the holes in the gas distribution mechanism were often adjusted – once every 15 thousand kilometers. Now engines need this much less often, but for those who drive a lot, or use petrol, we advise you to check the clearances yourself more often. And if they are significantly “gone”, you can adjust them in an auto repair shop or yourself, if you have the skills and time.

Key for oxygen sensors

Oxygen sensors (lambda probes) must be turned away periodically. And not for replacement, but to assess (visually or with an endoscope) the condition of the catalytic converter. It is important not to damage the sensor wiring harness – you must use a special wrench in the slot through which the wiring harness will pass. The design of the fixture should allow for the use of a torque wrench when tightening the sensor.

Hexagon “7”

Oddly enough, sometimes even decent tool kits don’t have the keys needed to repair modern cars. For example, only the most elaborate and expensive kits will have 16, 18 and 21 mm wrenches and heads, which are, for example, necessary to repair a simple Logan. The same goes for hexagons. Some such keys usually look like “…6, 8, 10 …”. But even the brake pads on the Duster and on the Mercedes C-Class cannot be replaced without a “7” hexagon!

Wrench for brake lines

The nuts on the brake lines, especially rusted ones, cannot be loosened with an ordinary wrench: it “licks” the edges. And the tube itself interferes with putting on the head. An indispensable tool is a wrench that covers five faces of the nut and has a slot for the pipe.

torque wrench

On a modern car, it is better not to approach many nodes without a wrench that normalizes the tightening torque of threaded connections. For example, if you can replace the brake pads without it, an experienced mechanic will not risk installing new spark plugs without such an assistant. There are known cases of cracks in the cylinder head due to over-tightening of candles.

impact driver

When repairing a car, there are power screws with a cross-shaped or slotted head. These are often attached to door locks, brake discs and even parts inside the units. To unscrew them and pack them in with a decent moment, you need an impact driver that converts a hammer blow along its axis into a rotating movement of the tip.

Spring clip removal pliers

At one time, all hoses were attached to the car with tape clamps. Worm drive clamps have replaced them, but spring clamps work best. With temperature changes, they squeeze the snake more and more, just like a python. However, they are quite difficult to remove and install. The pliers have convenient grips for the ends of the clamp and a lock in the unlocked position, which makes work easier.
