The domestic manufacturer has no intention of abandoning the CMF-B modular platform acquired from Renault. Recall that before the events in February, it was planned that this architecture, which has already become the basis for the third generation of Dacia Logan (photo), will be based on all new Lada models – in particular the new Lada B-Class, the second generation Vesta, as well as the third Niva, for which AVTOVAZ engineers will develop an all-wheel drive.

However, after February, there were more questions than answers about these plans and in early fall there were reports that the project to introduce the CMF-B platform at AvtoVAZ had been postponed indefinitely. But then, at the Eastern Economic Forum, the head of AvtoVAZ, Maxim Sokolov, denied these data.

We plan to release a whole family of the so-called New Granta: a station wagon, a sedan and a Cross station wagon on the global CMF-B platform, which we inherited from our previous shareholders – Renault, and will are finalized by us,” the president said in an interview with TASS.

Obviously, we are talking about the so-called new Lada B class, according to which there was already a technological study (adaptation to mass production) before the crisis, and the assembled prototype was shown to the former president Nicolas More. Earlier, AvtoVAZ reported that this would not be a replacement for Grant, who would continue to occupy the niche of a low-budget car, but a larger model that would be produced in parallel.

  • Thus, the “new generation of Grants”, about which Sokolov spoke a little earlier, turns out to be exactly this promising model on the Renault CMF-B platform.
