AVTOVAZ plans to restore production of Lada Largus and Vesta models in dual-fuel modifications. This was told by Dmitry Kostromin, vice president of the company for sales and marketing, in an interview with the analytical agency Avtostat. Kostromin emphasized that the gas engine technology project has not been stopped, but is being carried out together with Gazprom.
There are two CNG gas modifications in the Lada model line – Vesta and Largus. We have been running this project together with Gazprom for a long time. It is not frozen and parallels the launch of Vesta and Largus. We are now considering all options to continue the project together with the ATS Group of Companies. Gazprom has a development strategy in this direction until 2026, including the emergence of many new gas filling stations. Taking this into account, AvtoVAZ plans to develop its model range»— reported deputy director.
In 2017-2018, AVTOVAZ launched the production of Lada Vesta and Largus modifications, which, in addition to gasoline, consume methane as a fuel.
The development was carried out in collaboration with the company ATS, which specializes in the installation of LPG, which, like AvtoVAZ, is located in Togliatti; the assembly of cars was also carried out on the territory of the automatic telephone exchange. For several years, both models were produced in small batches, the restart of assembly often coincided with the appearance of state subsidies for the purchase of dual-fuel cars.
