Moscow’s deputy mayor Maxim Liksutov said several prototypes had been prepared and prepared in Moscow to obtain the required certification and operate according to understandable algorithms. The accuracy of measurements is important so that no mistakes are made and fines are sent to the violator, Kommersant reports his words.
In August 2021, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin ordered the creation of a system of penalties for owners of extremely noisy cars and motorcycles. He called for a fight against “frozen motorists who drive at night without mufflers and with loud music”.
If such violations are automatically recorded using sound level cameras, the driver will be fined 5,000 rubles.
In September 2021, Moscow’s TsODD tested new cameras, but then it stalled. The maximum sound level in decibels that is planned to be measured is also unknown.
Liksutov noted that there will be no rush to introduce it, there is no task to do it tomorrow or the day after tomorrow, there is a task to make a good competitive product so that there is no monopoly of one manufacturer, and so that the devices have a high accuracy of change.
