In September, the State Duma tightened the requirements for obtaining a category D driver’s license, which can only be obtained with category B or C experience. As Izvestia found out, the deputies intend to adopt this government bill with priority.
Most factions are ready to support this initiative – bus drivers caused more than 3,000 traffic accidents in 2021 alone. They killed 166 and injured 5,325 people, while the death toll increased by 3.1%,” the bill notes. In addition, they will begin to treat people who previously drove drunk, as well as owners of foreign rights, more harshly.
Recall that category D allows you to manage passenger means of transport with a number of seats from nine or more (that is, we are talking about buses and minibuses). According to the new proposals, it will only be possible to get it if a person possesses other categories and has a driving experience of at least 12 months.
To obtain category D rights now, a general experience of categories B and C is not required, only the age of 21 years, the absence of medical contraindications and successful training in a driving school. However, many driving schools still refuse to accept people who do not have B or C rights, even though there is no such requirement in the legislation.
