In 2023, the Russian motorsport calendar will feature a new serious challenge for drivers and an exciting adventure for spectators. The next season will be marked by the start of the Russian Cup in endurance racing, which consists of four fully-fledged stages.
The initiator was Boris Rotenberg, the founder of the Russian motorsport development program SMP Racing.
It is this structure that will take over the functions of the promoter of the new series. The corresponding agreement with the Russian Automobile Federation (RAF), headed by the ex-head of the traffic police of the Russian Federation VN Kiryanov, has already been signed. From a purely technical point of view, the series will not appear out of nowhere. Since 2017, the annual marathon of the Akhmat Race has been held in Grozny.
I am pleased to announce that together with the Russian Automobile Federation and personally its President VN Kiryanov, with the active participation of the Chechen Motorsport Federation, which is developing thanks to the support of the Head of the Republic, Hero of Russia RA Kadyrov, announces SMP Racing holding a 4-stage Russian Endurance Car Racing Cup in 2023, the SMP Endurance Cup, said Boris Rotenberg.
The organizer of this competition is the Motor Sports Federation of the Chechen Republic, supported by the head of the region. The Federation has long planned to make the Akhmat Race into multiple stages, and this will happen next year. Akhmat Race will be the last point in a whole series of marathons – it will be preceded by long races on car dreams in Sochi, the Leningrad region and the Moscow region.
From 2023, the Akhmat Race will be part of a multi-stage competition that will cross the borders of the republic. We have deliberately come here and with the support of the SMP Racing motorsport development program and the Russian Automobile Federation, the project will be carried out at the highest level,” said Ramzan Kadyrov.
Keep in mind that the format of endurance races – or marathons, endurance – includes races that last several hours with pit stops to refuel the car and install new tires. As a rule, a change of drivers is also carried out at pit stops. The most famous marathons are the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, the 12 Hours of Sebring and the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
It should be noted that, among other cars, the SMP Endurance Cup will launch new sports prototypes BR03 (pictured above), which are completely designed and manufactured by the Russian company BR Engineering.
