Not only is there a shortage of new cars in the republic, but there are already not enough car transporters to transport cars to Russia, according to Chinese Automobiles. The reason for this is gray dealers, who became extremely active on the border of states after the events of February. The fact is that cars in Kazakhstan are now much cheaper than in the Russian Federation, and it is profitable for Russians to buy cars in a neighboring country.
As an example, the publication mentions prices for the Chery Tiggo 8 Pro crossover: equipment with adaptive cruise control in Russia costs 3,239,900 rubles, including discounts, and in Kazakhstan the top version of the model is sold for 15.9 million tenge, which is equal to 2.05 million rubles.
As a rule, re-export by the distributor is prohibited, so the scheme is developed as follows: a citizen of Kazakhstan becomes the first buyer of a car. This is a pure formality – to carry out customs clearance, pay for transport services, drive cars on a car transporter and send them to Russia. The “buyer” is paid a fee of about 50,000 rubles, and the car is re-registered with the current owner.
In a month, one seller can overtake more than 50 new cars from Kazakhstan to Russia. There are difficulties: when converting rubles into tenge, most of the profit is lost, because the exchange rate at Russian banks, unlike Kazakhstan, is extremely low. However, this does not deter buyers at all. And among the citizens of Kazakhstan who visit car dealers, dissatisfaction with the shortage is growing.
- According to the survey results, 70% of Russians are willing to go to Kazakhstan to buy a car.
