The Vision 7S concept gives us the key to understanding what the new Skoda will look like.
The three-row electric concept will eventually evolve into a production crossover that will be one of three electric vehicles that Skoda plans to launch in the coming years.
It is built on the same MEB electric platform as the Enyaq EV, as well as other electric vehicles in the VW family, such as the Volkswagen ID.4 and the Audi Q4 e-tron. Skoda engineers say the concept is equipped with a battery that offers a range of more than 600 km, but do not say how long it takes to charge this battery. However, one of the most interesting features of the novelty is the “relaxation mode” with a dual configuration.
At the touch of a button on the console, the 14.6-inch touchscreen rotates to make watching movies easier, and the rectangular steering wheel and instrument panel move forward to make way for the passengers in the front seats. Hanging out at an electric car charging station for 30 minutes is no problem when you spend them in such a comfortable cabin while watching movies.
But perhaps the most important function of the Vision 7S is to showcase the new Skoda design language and logo.
A completely new design element are the seven vertical slats in the bumper. The center has a contrasting orange accent, while the entire section is emphasized by an aluminum skid plate built into the lower apron.
Above the slots in the bumper are a pair of headlights that rise up and rest on ultra-thin horizontal DRLs. Interestingly, the original shape of the front grille was retained to emphasize the brand identity, but this time there is only a dark glass screen inside. Skoda calls the “new face” Tech Deck and claims it gives the 7S a touch of power.
Generally, the new design language is called Modern Solid, and we’ll see its first use on the next-generation Superb production model.
