Mercedes-Benz and Nokian are selling their Russian assets and negotiating the sale of their factories. The buyer of Mercedes-Benz can be the company “Avtodom”. Nokian has announced a “controlled exit” from Russia, but no specific plan has been announced so far.
Both manufacturers want to keep the possibility to return to Russia when the geopolitical and economic situation in the world changes.
Volkswagen, Ford and BMW could soon follow the same path, predicts independent auto industry adviser Sergey Burgazliev.
“I dare say that these car manufacturers are potentially at the forefront of selling production sites for the production of cars in our country. It is likely that such a possibility is at least studied by the management of companies,” Izvestia quotes the expert as saying.
According to him, Japanese and Korean car manufacturers are thinking less about selling factories in the Russian Federation.
