The actions of Western countries aimed at the economic blockade of Russia, of course, also had consequences for the car industry. But those companies that under normal circumstances found it difficult to compete with European brands, immediately rushed to the vacated site. We are talking about Iranian-made cars, among other things.

For example, two Iranian companies arrived in Moscow last week: Iran Khodro with the Tara sedan and SAIPA with the Shahin sedan. Until now the cars have only been brought in to show, there was no mention of prizes, but we managed to find out anyway.

Expert opinion

Maxim Kadakovyeditor-in-chief of the oldest automotive publication in Russia, Za Rulem magazine:

– The Iranians themselves say that they will deliver cars to Russia by the end of the year, but they give almost no details. As far as I know, there was not even any information about the beginning of the certification of these models. But I still managed to find out that the price for Shahin, and this, think of the Iranian Grant, at the “border” they can set about 12-13 thousand dollars. And add to this the customs fee – 15%, VAT – 20%, the cost of recycling – about 170 thousand rubles, plus some kind of fat to be received by the importer himself – this is another 8-10 percent. That is, we add another 50% to this 13 thousand, and it comes out to 20 thousand dollars, which is almost 1 million 200 thousand rubles!

At the same time, a grant can be bought cheaper – and for 800, although in the simplest configuration. But even if the Iranian car will be the same price as the Grant, the question arises – which of the buyers will be interested in it?

Well, the Iranian car is better equipped, but there is no idea how such cars will be sold in Russia, what their quality is. There is no dealer network, no guarantees, no supply of spare parts. But the second of the presented cars – Tara – in theory should cost even more – it is already at the level of Vesta.

The Iranians have seriously set their sights on our market, they are already thinking about production in Russia, but whether they will master it is still an open question.

In general, the quality of their equipment is known to be mediocre, the Iranians themselves scold their cars. Neighboring countries Iraq and Syria have refused delivery of Iranian cars several times, arguing that they were not safe enough. But in the end, I repeat, a lot will depend on the price.
