In three days’ time – from 1 September 2022 – new requirements for the technical inspection of passenger cars will apply.
For example, drivers and car owners no longer have to present first aid kits, fire extinguishers and warning triangles during the inspection, Sergei Zubrisky, associate professor of the Ground Vehicles Department at Moscow Poly, recalled in an interview with Prime. But “Behind the wheel”, the oldest and most popular car publication in Russia, recommends not to refuse these accessories.
Also, the new standards allow minor leaks of oils and working fluids from vehicles – this will no longer be a reason to refuse to issue a diagnostic card that allows the operation of equipment.
Also, employees of maintenance points will not pay attention to corrosion and the noise level of the exhaust system.
Another innovation is measuring the tread height instead of the remaining tread depth. In fact, these concepts are identical, and in fact the change concerns only the wording.
Recently, passenger cars do not have to undergo a technical inspection, but that does not apply to vehicles whose owners go abroad. Therefore, before traveling to other countries, you must pass a technical inspection so that the trip does not end at the border.
Zubrisky recalls that the cancellation of the technical inspection does not mean that cars can be operated in the presence of malfunctions that prohibit the operation of the vehicle.
