Hitting a living being, be it a human or an animal, is not without consequences. That’s the law. In the second case, most drivers just manage to avoid punishment – people just don’t report it and drive on. But this is a crime – the driver is hiding from the scene of an accident.
“A collision with any animal is a traffic accident,” NGS quoted lawyer Sergei Yegorov as saying. – When hitting an animal, the driver is obliged to document the accident in accordance with the traffic rules, otherwise he will face administrative liability under Part 2 of Article 12.27 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation – the driver , in violation of the traffic rules, leaves the scene of an accident in which he was a participant. The driver is threatened with disqualification for a period of one to one and a half years or an administrative detention for a maximum period of fifteen days.
It would be good to call the traffic police and file an accident with them. In this case, if a wild animal is hit, the driver will only be fined for causing damage to nature, which, if there is OSAGO, will be paid by the insurance company. If the animal is a pet, then there is a procedure and everything can turn out in such a way that the owner of the animal is found guilty of an accident. The penalties for wild animals are as follows:
