The electric version of the Lada Largus bus, which is expected to be launched at the Lada Izhevsk plant, will be in high demand, said Konstantin Suntsov, First Deputy Prime Minister of Udmurt’s government. He noted that the electric commercial version (ie the electric van, on which AVTOVAZ bets) will be more cost-effective than cars with combustion engines.
We see how e-commerce is developing – platforms, marketplaces, how trade logistics is developing. Vans like this Largus are in highest demand as the first commercial vehicles. I am convinced that there will be a lot of demand for this transport and that the factory will load more,” Kommersant quotes Suntsov as saying.
The deputy prime minister added that the intention is to subsidize the purchase of electric transport at the state level. Recall that the creation of the production of the electric version of Lada Largus in Izhevsk became known from the words of AVTOVAZ president Maxim Sokolov on August 4. Vesta’s assembly, in turn, will be transferred to Tolyatti, but Izhevsk will continue to produce components for it.
Next year, the pilot batch of electric Largus is to be assembled. The car is produced in Izhevsk on a full cycle, with welding and painting. In the future, the goal is to achieve 100% localization. Sokolov himself, assessing the possible production volumes of this change, notes that everything will depend on the market situation and demand. If demand is high, the factory could produce thousands of these machines.
- The editor-in-chief of “Behind the wheel” Maxim Kadakov believes that the demand will not be huge, but it will be.
