The development of the Russian electric car Zetta in Togliatti has been carried out since 2013, according to the updated plans, by the end of 2020 – early 2021, cars with a sales price of 550 thousand rubles should be produced in Togliatti. To start production, the entrepreneur Denis Shchurovsky, who led the project, lacked 100 million rubles, which he promised to allocate from the Industry Development Fund of the Ministry of Industry and Trade. However, this has not happened.
Information about the denial of state investment appeared for the first time in September 2020: when it was reported that the IDF commission concluded that the amount declared would still not be enough to industrialize the project, and advised the project initiators to find an investor who is willing to co-finance the project with the fund. Now Russian Automobile reports in Telegram that the project is closed – the investor has clearly not been found.
Recall that we are talking about a two-seater with dimensions of 3030, 1760 and 1600 mm. The body structure is frame-panel: a supporting frame made of rectangular tubing and external panels made of fiberglass. The drive is electric on the front axle (an all-wheel drive version was also planned) powered by a lithium-ion battery made in China. Power reserve – about 180 km.
The source states that only five copies of the Zetta were made throughout the entire time, as well as another unfinished frame. In its current form, according to the note’s author, the project no longer exists, but the following is stated separately: “Zetta electric vehicles will not be produced in Russia.” Zetta may be waiting somewhere abroad for a restart.
