What are the errors?
At one point, the airbag warning light on the dashboard came on. The problem seems to be in the steering wheel – judging by the numerous complaints on the forums, this is far from an isolated case.
Several times (usually in winter) on startup the default media system hung. Sometimes it showed no image from the rear view camera.
Characteristic jerks, “spending” the engine not only in the warm-up mode, but also when reaching the operating temperature, is rather the norm for a VAZ 16 valve. Searching for reasons with an authorized dealer may take several visits and yield no results. However, the uneven operation of the engine did not progress for six months and did not interfere with the operation.
How to save money when buying?
A similar message surfaced three times in six months. Restarting the engine helped.
Several thousand kilometers behind the wheel of the Largus FL (FL – facelift, or restyling) formed the image of one of the most budget cars on the market. It is an unpretentious and very spacious car. There are options for five and seven seats. Don’t expect any special comfort – neither driving, nor tactile, nor acoustically. The manufacturer saved on many solutions, with the result that by today’s standards the buyer got a lot of car for a modest price and an unploughed field for improvements.
You can save a little more on machine maintenance if you choose the optimal configuration. For example, our test Largus Cross is shod with 205/55 R16 tires. And the usual station wagon – with wheels 185/65 R15. These are slightly cheaper and a ground clearance of 172 mm (for the cross version of 200 mm) is more than sufficient for Russian roads. Save three thousand on buying a new set of tires.
Outlook for Lada Largus
While Largus production has been halted for a while due to a lack of components. But according to vazovtsy, the outlook is optimistic. AvtoVAZ has already started production of anti-crisis grants in the amount of 600 copies per day. The three-door Niva Legend has already been launched. The next plan looks something like this:
- Niva Travel – August 2022;
- XRAY – foggy outlook due to the smallest localization;
- Vesta — the first quarter of 2023 (there is a possibility that the meeting will be moved from Izhevsk to Tolyatti).
The first Largus can be harvested in the summer – in small quantities. But mass production is a further prospect: autumn or even early 2023. First with a 90 horsepower eight-valve engine.
The biggest problem is with the ABS. The current version of the Global Access platform does not imply versions without anti-lock braking systems – and even the relationship with the first generation Logan, which had non-ABS options, does not save. It is unlikely that the Russian production of all necessary components will be realized in the coming years. Therefore, a supplier from China is considered – there are possible solutions, you just need to run the whole test cycle.
What about the service?
Leaving Russia, Renault transferred the supply chain of spare parts and consumables to AVTOVAZ. Unlike Renault, which cannot supply sanctioned spare parts, one of AVTOVAZ’s subsidiaries can import them into Russia without restrictions. As a result, the maintenance and repair of Renault cars is already underway today, and there is no shortage of original spare parts. The situation is similar to Largus.

Alternative to Largus FL in 2022
As of July 2022, Largus will have even less worthy alternatives than at the beginning of the year. Of the new ones, only the Grant wagon or Vesta SW in poor equipment can be considered. But on the secondary, there are more options.
For example:
- Ford Focus III (restyling) in the station wagon version. The last Focus rolled off the production line at the Vsevolozhsk plant in June 2019. On offer today you will find a relatively fresh version 1.6 (125 hp) with a robotized gearbox or mechanics for the price of a new Largus.
- Heels Citroen Berlingo, Peugeot partner and Renault Dokker are not inferior to Largus in terms of space. A good choice for a large family.
- Chevrolet Orlando – You can even save money on buying this car as the most recent Chevrolet is 2014. But Orlando is superior to Largus in terms of comfort and equipment.
