An unarmored version of the Russian-made Strela SUV is presented at the Army-2022 forum.
The project is carried out by the Military Industrial Company (VPK), which last year showed the first prototype – an armored army version.
Russian Automobile writes that the body structure of the second example no longer depends on the modified cabin of the GAZelle Next, as with the first Strela. The body of the civilian version is already completely original, with a new design. But the unification of units and assemblies with the GAZ Sobol NN 4×4, which is being prepared for series production, remained – this is one of the assets of the project.
From the new Sable onwards, the Strela has independent suspension with forged wishbones at the front and dependent leaf suspension at the rear, as well as engines and transmission.
Two engines are planned: the Cummins ISF 2.8 used on GAZelles and the promising Sino-Russian YaMZ-Foton turbo diesel. Engine power – from 157 to 200 horsepower. Transmission – 5-speed manual gearbox with plug-in four-wheel drive.
The frame also partially repeats the Sable NN 4×4, but the spars are their own. Overall dimensions of the machine: length – 5200 mm, width – 2550 mm, height – 2400 mm. The wheelbase is 2700mm and the ground clearance is 270mm.
- By the way, “Behind the wheel” Strela has already tested!
- “Behind the Wheel” can be seen on RuTube.
The purpose of the car is twofold: in theory there would be a demand for it, both in the military and in the national economy.
