The import of vehicles to Russia in 2022 has become one of the topics of discussion at the automotive business forum “Parallel Import. Automobiles, Spare Parts, Components” organized by the Avtostat agency.
Where do they come from
While China (28.3%), Belgium (25.2%) and Germany (17.4%) led the new passenger car segment in the first quarter, the situation changed dramatically in the second quarter – China took the lead by a large margin – 80, 6%, in second place – South Korea – 7%, in third Japan – 2.6%.
In the used car segment, Japan led the way in both the first and second quarters with 86.6% and 87.4% respectively. Belarus is in second place: in the first quarter – 3.9%, in the second – 2.8%. In third place in the first quarter was Germany (2.5%), in second place – the United States (2.3%).
Most of the cars were brought to our country in February – more than 32 thousand units, 65% of which were new. In July, 25,000 cars were imported, but only 32% of them are new.
An interesting trend was noted: the share of private individuals involved in the import of cars is growing steadily. While private traders only imported 2% of the total volume of imported new cars in February, this rose to 20% in July.
In the used car segment, the share of private individuals has exceeded 90% since January. And in July, 99% of second-hand goods were imported by private individuals.
Parallel import
With regard to parallel imports, which had high expectations, everything is still complicated with regard to cars. On August 15, the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Denis Manturov, said that since May, all categories of goods worth $6.5 billion have been imported into Russia without the permission of the copyright holders, and that about $16 billion is being exported. expects by the end of this year that, even against the backdrop of an impressive list of goods that may be imported without copyright owner’s permission, looks modest.
