Indian brand Mahindra looks set to get ready for its entry into the EV market with the announcement of five new concept cars under the XUV and BE sub-brands. They are all built on a new Mahindra platform called Inglo and using MEB VW Group platform components.
The BE-branded crossovers look more futuristic than the XUVs, which seem to be closer to the state of the production models. All machines shown are digital renderings, real prototypes are not yet available.
VW Group and Mahindra recently signed an agreement under which German and Indian cars will share “electric transmission, battery system and battery cells”.
Inglo platform will be compatible with 60-80 kW batteries·h. With a quick charge, these batteries are 80 percent charged in less than 30 minutes.
Crossovers are produced with rear-wheel drive (231 hp) or four-wheel drive (340 hp), which accelerates to 100 km/h in six seconds. That is, Indian electric cars will be more powerful than electric cars from Audi, VW and Skoda.
New items will go on sale from 2024 and Indian motorists will be the first to buy them. Then crossovers are delivered to other countries and possibly also to Russia.
