In Perm, police have seized more than 95 tons of counterfeit motor oil, according to the chief directorate of the Russian Interior Ministry for the Perm area. The illegal shop operated in the city’s industrial zone for several years. Here the scammers set up a semi-automatic line, using which they poured raw materials into jerry cans. As a basis, they took cheap two-stroke engine oil purchased in bulk, poured it into jerry cans and pasted labels with the names of well-known international manufacturers.
The police have inspected the production and storage facilities. In addition to counterfeit products ready for sale, 113 tons of raw materials for their production, 40,000 empty jerry cans of various sizes and about 30,000 labels were also seized.
Manufacturers of containers and stickers that supplied their products for the criminal trade were also identified. At a mini-factory for plastic products, they found molds for making jerry cans that imitate the products of a foreign manufacturer.
A criminal case was initiated on the basis of a crime under part 3 of Article 180 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation 9 (“Illegal use of means for the individualization of goods (works, services)”. they were released on bail .
The seized oil has been sent to trademark owners for official confirmation of the counterfeiting. According to preliminary calculations, the amount of damage may exceed 100 million rubles.
