Yaroslav Nilov, chairman of the State Duma Committee on Labour, Social Policy and Veterans Affairs, proposed a check of traffic cameras. As a result, the deputy is sure that it will be possible to dismantle 70% of the complexes for the purpose of solving violations.

The rationale for this proposal was a fine for one of the drivers for a detached plush cat sitting in a car seat. Yaroslav Nilov is sure that the cameras, which were “intended to partially replace the traffic police inspectors”, could not cope with this.

“This is the quintessence of the nonsense of today’s photo and video recording systems. Clear. The invasion of cameras has already seriously distorted the traffic police system, whose employees were called upon to partially replace the fixation complexes (and in vain, as it turned out), “writes the deputy in his Telegram– channel.

He also calls the safety of camera-equipped roads a myth and explains why most complexes are actually built:

“All safety on roads equipped with cameras is mostly a myth, beautifully monetized in favor of regional budgets and device owners.”

Yaroslav Nilov also recalled that the Duma gave the green light to fine drivers using cameras for far from all violations:

“It was not in vain that we submitted a bill to the State Duma that would allow the attraction of drivers using restraint complexes, only for speeding violations and various other types of offenses – but certainly not a belt and a phone.”

Cameras, of which at least 70% of the roads should have been removed, the deputy called “purses”, not security tools.
