According to the World Database of Speed Cameras, two-thirds of these cameras are in Europe – 62,829 units. The fewest cameras are in Africa – 1377 pieces. The study used camera data from 107 countries.
It turned out that most traffic cameras are installed on the roads of Russia – 18,393 pieces, according to the World Database.
Brazil is second with 16,997 cameras on the road. The researchers explained this by the large areas of Russia and Brazil, but also by the extensive road network of countries.
But in third place was a small country – Italy, whose drivers are followed by 10,787 cameras.
Fourth place went to the US. There are two and a half times fewer cameras than in our country – only 7366 pieces. At the same time, most monitor violations at intersections and, in particular, determine the arrival of the stop line at a prohibition light. About the same number of cameras in the UK – 7265 pieces.
