A little bit, but in the markets for both new and used cars, prices have dropped slightly. Buyers don’t want to pay twice as much for something that was cheaper six months ago. But the current political situation is such that we do not have to wait for the arrival of “fresh” Europeans in the near future.
Expert opinion
Maxim Kadakovyeditor-in-chief of the magazine “Behind the wheel”:
– To secure their current business during this difficult period, dealers are forced to moderate their appetite somewhat. The same happens in the secondary market, as the prices of used shoes are strongly linked to the prices of new ones. Once the prices of new ones rose, people turned and went for relatively fresh used cars. But at the same time, they counted on yesterday’s prices and have already become furious here. People no longer buy on the secondary market, so sellers are forced to lower prices here and there. But there is no need to wait for a significant discount. There is no competition in the market.
We only have AVTOVAZ and UAZ and Chinese brands – Haval, Geely and Chery, plus the rest. They cannot cover all the needs of the market. Lada is the entry level (I don’t even pronounce the word “budget” anymore!), then a failure, and then the “Chinese” kick in. But it is impossible for the “Chinese” to close the niche of Mercedes-Benz or BMW, it is impossible for Lada to “close” Skoda, Volkswagen and Renault. Therefore, assuming that these remaining players will increase production and deliveries, we will receive at best 700-800 thousand cars this year that will be sold. And the shortage is more than a million units, as witnessed by sales in recent years.
I walked through car dealerships here, and not through Moscow, but through regional ones. A fresh “anti-crisis” Granta is on display, from the “luxury” only air conditioning. It costs 887 thousand rubles – well, somehow it is not cheap at all. And for Grant liftback previous issue period with ABS, two pillows, etc. they already ask for 1 million 30 thousand rubles. And this, I emphasize, is not in Moscow!
And if we take foreign brands, there is a complete silence and we do not know when the movement will start. The Koreans are off to a bad start and the Germans don’t mind coming back and wanting the Japanese to work, but as long as the international situation is like this, it’s hard to know when they will be allowed to do that. And dealers of all these brands can only resell the remaining cars, the shortage will increase and prices will not fall. No new registrations!
There is still a “window” – parallel import deliveries. They are, but cheap cars are not brought to us, that makes no sense. What to bring – Corolla or Land Cruiser? Fuss is the same, but the fat is different. That is why they mainly bring large and expensive crossovers. Private traders as well as newly established companies and firms are involved. Official dealers are gradually starting to do this too. No guarantee, but cheaper than direct deliveries. If the buyer wants a warranty, he pays extra to the dealer and already has a warranty from the seller, not the manufacturer. But these are all some weak flows that cannot replace the mass production and supplies that were there.
