Sport Edition – this is the name of the only complete set of the Exeed TXL crossover with a more powerful 2.0 turbo engine. Previously, there was only a 1.6-litre engine from the same family with a similar seven-speed robot.
The increase is palpable: 197 hp and above all 375 N.m couple are cheerfully taken away when overtaking. And according to the first measurements, they are ahead of the acceleration from 9 seconds to hundreds indicated by the manufacturer (details are in the video).
There are also other novelties. Welcome full-size alloy spare tire and built-in DVR. Recording quality checked – excellent. An indication of the operation of the main controls, such as the accelerator pedal, brakes or direction indicators, is shown in the illustration.
A start-stop system appeared, and with a physical shutdown button. It comes in handy: TXL 2.0 goes lazy and so on.
What is good…
The sporty spirit was apparently designed to create tinted windows of the rear hemisphere and the red color of the brake calipers. It would be better if the mechanisms were completed themselves: the Exeed stops “on the floor” with an uncomfortably soft pedal, and after the first brake it smells like brake linings.
Although as “not to lead to sin”, Exeed TXL is seen as a whole, and this is not typical of the “Chinese”. Everything is here for comfort: the suspension is softer than usual for the “Koreans”, and the sound-insulating glass really works (TXL is quieter, for example Kodiak). There’s plenty of room in the cabin, the finish is appropriate – although not all claims for premium are backed by decent performance.
The two-litre version has a robotic selector from the larger VX model. Comfortable. It is atypical for Chinese cars that there are all possible heaters, and both the cushions and the backrests are heated in the seats.
… and what is “not bad”
There are many questions about the running boards, retractable by electric drive. It seems that this is a factory accessory, which is installed as standard on all Russian two-liter TXLs. It is impossible to turn them off, for example, in winter or when parking at the curb – just pull the fuse.
The steps get dirty in an instant – much faster than the machine itself. And the lower parts of the hinges reduced the clearance to 170 mm – and in the center of the base, where every millimeter counts. It’s a shame because the TXL has four-wheel drive and no off-road capabilities.
However, it is on the two-litre version that off-road should also be avoided because there is a particulate filter under the bottom. On a petrol engine, it is also used to fit into the sixth environmental class, and the 1.6 engine costs fifth.
Therefore, in the younger TXL you can pour the 92nd gasoline, and in 2.0, if you like, the 95th. In addition, a diesel particulate filter usually increases the requirements for the ash content of motor oil – and now you know how to work with oils yourself.
Will the queue line up?
It is unlikely that there will be a huge demand for Exeed TXL 2.0: its price is more than 4.6 million rubles! For the money you will find Kodiaq, Santa Fe or RAV4. They may not be as comfortable, in some ways simpler, but they do not confuse with individual decisions. Or questions about reliability, to which the new Chinese models simply do not yet have an exact answer.
