More precisely, 79.6 thousand, which is 24.4% more than in the first half of 2021, were calculated in the Scientific Center for Road Safety (NTs BDD) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

By contrast, road stewards’ fines were 7.1% lower than a year earlier (just 10.6 thousand).

In total, 90.2 thousand fines were issued for a total amount of almost 62 billion rubles. At the same time, procedures in 167,000 administrative cases were terminated for various reasons.

They began to initiate more cases against drivers in a state of drug intoxication – by 3.7% (10.3 thousand). Passengers were fined 4.1% more often (127.7 thousand cases). But the record increase in the number of cases filed is directed against cyclists and ‘other persons involved in road traffic’. Their number has grown to 33.7 thousand (by a third).

We already wrote that at the beginning of 2021, 27,710 complexes for solving violations on Russian roads were in operation. Now, as told in the State Traffic Inspectorate, their number is 23.4 thousand units, including mobile and stationary. That is, there are fewer cameras and more fines. The point is to update the functionality of the cameras – every year they recognize more and more violations. This is not only speeding, but also non-compliance with road markings, unfastened seat belts, phoning while driving and even animals in the front seats of cars.
