As mentioned earlier, the list of parallel imports (PI), that is, goods that are allowed to be imported into Russia without the permission of the copyright owner, is not static – it can be supplemented or deleted by individual items. And now that the Ministry of Industry and Commerce has updated several positions for the first time, we will only talk about the automotive part.
The department said in a statement that a significant change was the removal of the Renault brand from the list of PIs, as “JSC AVTOVAZ took on the obligations to provide warranty service for this brand, including the sale of spare parts.”
In addition, the list was supplemented with brands of car parts, products of the radio-electronic, chemical industry and other goods. It is now possible to import Castrol and Liqui Moly oils, Datsun, Alienware products etc. via parallel import.
The ministry said in a statement that such changes were necessary as the parallel import mechanism was created to ensure the availability of all necessary goods for Russian citizens and industrial enterprises.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia will continue to monitor the situation with import stocks and, if necessary, add or remove certain items from the list.
