After Nokian Tires leaves Russia, the tire factory in the Leningrad region will change brands and look for new markets, region governor Alexander Drozdenko said at a news conference.
“There will be problems with Nokian Tires, because the company will either sell its business or transfer it to management, but the difficulty is that the label itself, which you are used to, most likely will not stay, there will be another label, and the it is important that it conquers markets. The production volume is very large, our Nokian Tires plant in Vsevolozhsk is one of the largest in the world, and the management will have to work to find new outlets, as tires were supplied to Europe, Canada and the US, and unfriendly countries forbade the import of tires from Russia,” the TASS agency reports his words.
The Finnish manufacturer had previously decided to leave Russia due to a special operation in Ukraine and the subsequent tightening of sanctions by Western countries.
At the end of June, the company notified the authorities of the Leningrad region of the dismissal, with the consent of the parties, of 300 employees of the plant in the city of Vsevolozhsk, in the Leningrad region. 14 million tires are produced here every year.
