Car scammers started using right-hand drive cars for road trips. This was told in the insurance company “Renaissance Insurance”.
The location for the fraud was a road with a circular movement. In several cases the victims were official taxi cars, which are guaranteed to be insured. However, ordinary civilian cars also passed by. Experts therefore suggest that fraudsters have access to illegal databases. There they can check the availability of insurance for a particular car.
But for an accident to happen, just knowing about the presence or absence of insurance is not enough. This is where the carelessness of motorists plays into the hands of scammers. Attackers take advantage of the moment when the driver looks to the left and passes the transport that has the advantage. At that moment, the vehicle in front brakes hard – and an accident occurs. Most often, drivers in Krasnoyarsk and Vladivostok suffer from such institutions.
“It is necessary to strictly follow the traffic rules and be careful when changing lanes. If the rules say a right turn is made from the far right lane, then you shouldn’t turn from the second or even third lane thinking “maybe I’ll pass, maybe they’ll let you through,” advises Sergey Demidov, director of auto insurance. at Renaissance Insurance Insurance Company.
To execute schemes, scammers get behind the wheel of relatively cheap cars. In most cases, Japanese-made right-hand drive cars appear. These can e.g. Nissan or Daihatsu. However, the repair and restoration of such machines usually becomes costly. As a result, attackers from insurance companies receive up to 400 thousand rubles for each case.
Experts note that the same car can be used several times in a criminal intent. And they repair it themselves using spare parts from other cars. Such repairs are cheaper. This allows fraudsters to control almost three quarters of the insurance payout.
