Rosstandart announced the start of the recall. More than 38,000 Mercedes-Benz GL (Type 164), ML (Type 164), R-Class (Type 251) vehicles sold between 2004 and 2014 are subject to recalls.
The need for mass repair is caused by the progressive corrosion of the metal. On cars of these brands, it occurs at the intersection of the body and the vacuum brake booster. The experts noted that the problem can occur due to frequent water ingress as a result of using the machine for a long time. Corrosion has broken the tightness of the vacuum booster. And as a result, the braking force is reduced.
Company representatives will notify owners whose cars fall into this category via phone calls or messages. Drivers are also offered not to wait for a phone call, but to independently check whether the car can be recalled. This can be done on the Rosstandart website. To do this, you need to compare the VIN number of the car with the one in the list.
The vacuum brake booster is checked on all vehicles included in the recall. Repair or replace if necessary. Work for owners will be free.
