German automaker Mercedes-Benz can reduce its consumption by 50%, against the background of the reduction in gas supply from Russia, informs Reuters cited the company’s CEO, Ola Kallenius.

Kallenius said that a combination of efficiency measures, increased electricity consumption, as well as temperature adaptation at production sites and replacing gas with oil can reduce gas consumption by up to 50% throughout the year if needed.

“In terms of electricity, we will have to discuss this with our electricity companies. The entire German industry will have to adapt,” Kallenius said.

Earlier on Wednesday, Germany’s federal network agency approvedGas pumping from Nord Stream is 19.5% of the gas pipeline’s capacity.
