If you try to repair a car yourself in the yard of a high-rise building, you could be fined. This was recalled in an interview with the Prime agency by associate professor of Moscow State University of Law named after OE Kutafina Anastasia Ragulina.
The law prohibits not only repairs, but also the washing of a car in public places.
The reason for this ban is that manipulation of the car can cause nuisance to local residents. In some cases it can even be harmful to health. For example, using chemicals to wash the car body or draining engine oil can be harmful to others.
The maximum that can be done in the garden is to wipe the headlights or mirrors with a cloth. It is forbidden to pour water on body parts. This can already lead to a fine.
If a violation is established, the motorist can be held administratively liable. A fine for individuals can range from 100 to 500 rubles. For officials – from 500 to 1000 rubles. For legal entities – from 10 thousand to 20 thousand rubles or an administrative suspension of activities for up to ninety days.
According to the expert, there are now practically no places where you can legally wash or repair your car yourself. Self-service car washes, as well as closed garage complexes with drains equipped with filters, are allowed.
