Will there be more theft of parts from parked cars, as well as the theft of the cars themselves due to the emerging shortage of spare parts? On this topic, “Behind the wheel” decided to think with the analytical agency “Avtostat”. My colleagues and I asked readers if they have personally experienced theft and theft? And here are the answers we got.
Of those who nevertheless turned out to be victims of criminals, they were usually devoid of body kit elements (bumpers, liners) or gasoline, which turned out to be drained from the tank in the morning. In total, almost 10% of the participants in the online survey of the 1,100 respondents suffered in this way.
The remaining cases can be considered rare: one of the other problems affected only 2% of respondents or less. And the majority of our readers – over 84% – have never experienced a car theft or theft.
Konstantin Vasilieveditor-in-chief of the site “Behind the wheel”:
– I remember how I came to my brother in Togliatti by car a few years ago. And he advised me not to leave her in the garden for the night. More reliable – in a paid parking lot. It turned out that a few days earlier, in a dark corner of the wharf, someone’s Land Cruiser had been taken apart literally overnight. They removed the wheels, doors, interior and even the front panel was partially disassembled. Clearly worked pro team. And nobody noticed, because that night it rained heavily.
But honestly, this may be the only case in my memory. Well, except for the time my car’s hubcaps were screwed on. Remember when there was such a trend in Tik-Tok? But this is nonsense – childish jokes.
Today almost every entrance has a video camera. There are more and more on the roads. In short, in the city the car is constantly in sight, wherever you park it. And this is a very effective way to protect you from theft.
And I very much doubt that the coming shortage of spare parts will trigger a wave of thefts. Since this shortage is not explosive, but stretched in time. Roughly speaking, by the time the already imported parts run out, the parallel import will arrive on time. An acute shortage will affect certain parts for rare modifications to cars. The mass market will adapt soon enough, as always. In short, there is no need to panic. But in the dark alleys still do not leave the car.
