JSC “Kama” operates “under the wing” of KAMAZ, the company’s co-investors are the general manager of the Kama Automobile Plant Sergey Kogogin and financial tycoon Ruben Vardanyan.

The Moskvich car factory, which was recreated on the territory of the former Renault Russia, expects to produce electric vehicles in a full cycle – with welding and body painting. However, no final decision on the project has been made yet.

On July 6, the Moscow government, which owns the plant, reached an agreement with KAMAZ on cooperation in the development of passenger cars and the production of electric household vehicles. KAMAZ will act as the technological partner of the project. At the ceremony of the conclusion of the agreement, it was reported that for the first time borrowed models will be assembled under the Moskvich brand.

The release of products from which specific manufacturer they plan to organize in Moscow in 2022 is still a mystery. There are rumors about Chinese and Iranian models. Meanwhile, according to the schedule, by the end of 2022, 600 new cars will be assembled at the revived Moskvich, 400 of them with combustion engines, 200 with electric motors. In 2023, the company will produce at least 50 thousand cars, and in 2024 – 100 thousand. The number of electric vehicles will be 10 and 20 thousand units, respectively.

In mid-July, information appeared that JSC Kama was developing a five-door front-wheel drive electric car with a length of 3.75 m, it would have nothing to do with the Kama-1 layout shown at the end of 2020.
