The Ministry of Industry and Trade supported the Duma deputies’ proposal to introduce a moratorium on the transport tax. It is assumed that this measure will be valid for two or three years for citizens who have purchased a domestic car. The head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Deputy Prime Minister in charge of civil industry, Denis Manturov, expressed support for the initiative.
“The Ministry of Industry and Trade considers it possible to support your initiative,” Izvestiya Manturov is quoted as saying from a July 13 letter to Deputy Vitaly Milonov.
The head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade recalled that the Ministry of Finance manages the tax sphere – of course, coordination with this department is also required. Remember that by paying the transport tax introduced in 2003, the owner of the car is compensating, as it were, for the wear and tear of the roads, the repair of which is theoretically spent on the money collected by the tax authorities.
If implemented, the proposed measure could have a temporary but significant supportive effect on the domestic auto industry. Now the owner of the new Grants pays an annual transport tax of about 2.5 rubles.
- Another support measure was the return of the preferential car loan programme.
